JAKE DECKER

Picture

Member At Large

Jake Decker (he/him) is a second-year, Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) student. Jake is a Fogo island native, being the only out kid in school he saw a need for better education and representation of queer culture in the school and how isolating it can feel being the only “out” one. Jake believe it’s important to create spaces where queerness can exist in all its forms and nuances and making sure that queer history and culture isn’t lost.

COURTNEY COLLINS

Picture

Member At Large

Courtney Collins (she/her) was born and raised on Fogo Island. After living in St. John’s for four years, to attend post-secondary, she is looking forward to returning to central Newfoundland to begin her career as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. She hopes that Fogo Island Pride can educate this tiny, close-knit community about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and become an accepting and inclusive place for everyone.

DAWN PAYNE

Picture

Member At Large

Dawn Payne (she/her) is a retired educator and local business owner who has worked and lived on Fogo Island for the majority of her life.  She is passionate about advocating for seniors and ensuring adequate services for mental health and wellness are available for all.
She hopes that the community of Fogo Island will benefit from Pride’s message of inclusiveness, belonging and social equity.

JENNIFER ROEBOTHAM

Picture

Member At Large

Jennifer Roebotham (she/her) is a stay-at-home mom/stepmom to three wonderful kids and has a long-time career as a hairstylist. She grew up in small-town New-Wes-Valley, in central Newfoundland.
Being an RCMP family, she and her family have moved to many communities in Newfoundland in the last nine years. The thing that brings her so much joy is hiking the beautiful landscapes of Newfoundland.
She wants nothing more than to create a welcoming, safe place where everyone can be themselves and express their personality in every way. She wants Fogo Island and all communities in Newfoundland and Labrador to be inclusive, safe and welcoming to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and everyone. She wishes all peace, love and happiness.

Marc-Olivier Brouillette

Member At Large

Marc-Olivier Brouillette (he/him) was born in Montreal and grew up in Chicago and Vermont. After working several years in Montreal as a furniture maker, he came to Fogo Island to manage Fogo Island Workshops. He believes in the importance of 2SLGBTQIA+ in rural areas as a way to expand diversity and inclusivity in even the most remote places of the world.
