FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM
In partnership with Food First NL, Fogo Island Pride has secured a grant to provide essential grocery and household materials to disadvantaged families on Fogo Island. We have started this program in May 2020 and the pilot project has been completed as of August 2020.
We have received additional funding from Second Harvest Food Rescue, which will enable us to continue the Food Security Program by providing grocery hampers to the families on Fogo Island. This program is currently running until June 2022.

NEW PROGRAM CHANGES
Fogo Island Pride will be shifting the model for the Food Security Program from a nomination to an ‘open door’ based system.
This program will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be responsive to the needs identified in the community.
The change will first come into effect during April 2022 and be in place until June 2022.
Food Hamper time and dates are:
Please note: Dates can change unexpectedly, please join our social media channels to learn about changes or call the Pride Line at (709) 989-1687 to listen to any updates on the program.
There will be between 30 - 40 hampers will be available to any resident of the Town of Fogo Island. Hampers will contain staple grocery items and contain mostly healthy options for families (i.e. vegetables, fruits, whole grains, protein, etc.) Only one hamper will be provided per household. Additional food items will be provided at Fogo Island Pride’s discretion based on identified need.
