Pride Comes to Fogo IslandA newly established Non Profit on Fogo Island brings Pride to its shoresFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — (Tuesday, July 30, 2019) Fogo Island, Newfoundland -- Fogo Island, Newfoundland, is the proud home of a new Non Profit Organization: Fogo Island Pride. Established on May 14, 2019, Fogo Island Pride is dedicated to providing support to members of the Queer community and their allies in rural Newfoundland and Labrador. Co-founders, Evan Parsons and Trevor Taylor, founded Fogo Island Pride upon recognizing the need for education, acceptance and celebration of Queer culture in the communities on the island, and in rural locales across Newfoundland and Labrador. Advocating for LGBTQ2+ residents and their allies, as well as the community at large, Fogo Island Pride encourages the acceptance of the Queer community and endeavours to reduce the prejudice and discrimination of disenfranchised and/or otherwise marginalized groups. As a part of its inaugural season, Fogo Island Pride is thrilled to announce a new and exciting calendar of events, centered around community education and engagement during its first Pride Week: August 4 to 10, 2019.
